ITP Mentorship Program
(From Volunteerism to Employment)
Who we are:
The ITP mentorship program “From volunteerism to employment” is an on the job mentorship program offered by Pinecrest Queensway Community Health Centre that pairs Internationally Trained Professionals
with staff, other Community Health Resource Centres (CHRC’s) across the city and community-based organizations, according to their education, training and experience for an unpaid three-month placement.
Placements are flexible but we do require a commitment of 12 hours per week plus 2 hours for bi-weekly workshops
Operating for over seven years now, the program has supported over 300 internationally trained professionals. 65% of the participants who completed the program have gained employment related to their field of expertise. We do offer English and bilingual placements but training and communications are available only in English.
The ITP mentorship program’s mission is to support internationally trained professionals (ITPs) using their talents, education, training and experience in the Canadian work environment; making a significant contribution to communities served by organizations through different services. This sector-specific experience will help ITPs to develop professional networks, ongoing workplace skills, gain the confidence they need to succeed in the job market and integrate successfully in the Canadian society.
Together we seek to make valuable contributions to the Canadian society where ITP’s have meaningful opportunities according to their talents, skills and expertise in the country they have chosen as home.
